Whether we look at children's rates of poverty, poverty among working age adults, or poverty among single parent families, the story is the same. The U.S. has far and away the highest rates of poverty in the developed world. In addition, the extent of U.S. income and wealth inequality also tends to be extreme when compared to other industrialized countries.
The more advanced one's education, the greater the likelihood of achieving a more secure economic future. High school graduation rates for African-American and Hispanic students are almost 20 percentage points lower than for other ethnic groups, while their poverty rates greatly exceed the average.
Without the knowledge and skills required for well-remunerated work in the modern workplace, each succeeding generation of under-educated adults merely replaces the one before it without achieving any upward mobility or escape from poverty.
American Myths on Poverty:
The number of people looking for a better way of living has increase worldwide . Those arriving in Europe were received with a feeling of fear, lack of proper reception facilities, and the closing of borders in some cases. But it also created a wake-up call for solidarity. We witnessed across the continent citizens and volunteers coming together to welcome them and undertake initiatives to help them to learn French, access to higher education and professional training, promoting their talents, facilitating their access to employment when allowed.
I was able to meet and talk to many of them looking for a better future. Every single one I interacted with, expressed the desire to study and better themselves and this could be accomplished by having access to many educational programs offered at not charge by having a connection to Wifi and a computer across France and the USA .
